Digital storage
Convert digital storage between B, kB, MB, GB and also KiB/MiB/GiB.

How it works
Converts between bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, and terabytes in both families: decimal (kB, MB, GB, base 1000) and binary (KiB, MiB, GiB, base 1024). That double convention is why a "256 GB" drive shows less space in your system.
Formula
1 GB = 1,000,000,000 B · 1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 B
Example
A 256 GB drive holds 256,000,000,000 bytes, which is about 238.4 GiB: operating systems often display this second figure.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between GB and GiB?
GB uses powers of 1000 and GiB powers of 1024. The gap grows with size: about 7% at the gigabyte level.
How many MB are in a GB?
1,000 MB in the decimal system and 1,024 MiB in the binary one.
