How it works
Counts the calendar days between two dates. Dates are treated as whole local days, so daylight saving changes and time zones never skew the answer. If the end date comes before the start date, the result is negative.
Formula
days = day number of end date − day number of start date
Example
From 15 January 2026 to 1 March 2026 there are 45 days: 31 up to 15 February plus 14 more up to 1 March.
Frequently asked questions
Is the start day counted?
No: the result is the difference between the two dates. From the 1st to the 2nd is 1 day. If you need both ends included, add 1 to the result.
How are leap years handled?
Automatically: February has 29 days in leap years, so the count is exact.
