How it works
Adds or subtracts durations expressed in hours and minutes without converting to decimals. When minutes exceed 59 they roll over into hours automatically, and the result is also shown as total minutes and decimal hours.
Formula
total (min) = hours × 60 + minutes · decimal hours = total ÷ 60
Example
2 h 45 min + 1 h 30 min = 4 h 15 min, which is 255 minutes or 4.25 hours.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn 4 h 15 min into decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours: 15 ÷ 60 = 0.25, so it is 4.25 hours.
What if a subtraction goes negative?
Negative durations are not accepted: the tool warns you so you can swap the order of the values.
